Why we built this

AI is extraordinary. It can write, reason, summarise and decide - often better than we can. But there's a cost nobody's talking about: the less we exercise our own reasoning, the worse we get at it.

54% of American adults now read below a sixth-grade level. Reading scores are at their lowest since 1992. Numeracy scores have fallen in parallel - and only 48% of Americans can answer basic personal finance questions correctly. Critical thinking - the ability to assess an argument, spot a flaw, weigh evidence - is declining alongside them.

This matters because AI cannot replace the human judgement needed in the moments that actually count. Leaders who cannot reason independently, citizens who cannot evaluate an argument, professionals who outsource their thinking entirely - these are the real costs of cognitive atrophy.

DLYBR is five minutes a day to keep your mind sharp. No lectures. No self-improvement theatre. Just problems that make you think a little harder, every day.
